On 15th October, the Prime Minister approved the plan for Vietnam Ocean Shipping Development up to 2020 and Orientation to 2030.

Under the plan, the development of ocean shipping will meet demands of domestic and import – export cargo transport as well as to increase service quality. Cargo volume transported by Vietnam commercial fleet will reach 110-126 mill tones by 2015, 215-260 mill tones by 2020 and it will be more 1.5 times by 2030 in comparison with 2020.

The total of deadweight of the fleet will also increase to 6-6.5 mill dwt by 2010, 8.5-9.5 mill dwt by 2015 and 11.5-13.5 mill dwt by 2020.

Vietnam’s transporting capacity will be up to 300,000 dwt by 2020 and include other special kinds of vessels such as passenger, oil tanker, oil platform service vessel, Search & Rescue vessel etc.
